Useful Tip Friday: Reusing and Recycling Light Bulbs

Hooray, it’s Friday! Since it’s just about time for the weekend, how about starting it off with some useful tips?

If you just bought a brand new set of OttLite bulbs and need some bright ideas about what to do with your old blubs, today’s useful tips may help.

1. Have some fun with arts and crafts.

My grandmother was a wiz when it came to arts and crafts. She once took a used light bulb and affixed it to an old-fashioned coke bottle. She then spray-painted the whole arrangement gold and added an orange vest and tail to the coke bottle. On the light bulb portion, she fashioned pointy, orange ears made out of felt and painted a cat-face on the front. What a purr-fectly good idea! Want to see some other nifty light bulb creations? 2. Donate them to a shelter or organization.

Shelters and local charities are always open to donations. If they can’t use an item, they usually can find someone who will.

3. Check with your local recycling center.

Some recycling centers will recycle them and others won’t. Just give them a quick call or check your town’s local garbage pick-up website for details.

Here's to a bright weekend!
